Election Clerk Application

As I said in class, Harris County needs thousands of election clerks to conduct different types of elections.  The next two elections are:

  • Run-off for the City Election -- Saturday, December 10, 2011
  • Primary Elections -- Tuesday, March 6, 2012

The clerk position requires you to work from 6:30 am until 8:30 pm.  You will be assigned a precinct in Harris County.  Since students will be placed in areas where clerks are most needed, you may need to travel to a different part of the county.  You are paid $8.50 an hour.  Typically, it takes a month to receive the check.  Electronic devices are NOT allowed in the polling place.  You can have a cell phone with you, but you are prohibited from using it inside the polling place.

To apply, print and complete this application. Do NOT complete the form if you are uncertain about your commitment.  If the election is on a school day, you must return the form to me.  After Mr. Salem signs it, I will fax it to Harrris County.  If the election is on a Saturday, you do not need Mr. Salem's signature.  In that case, you should fax yourself to the Harris County Election Office.
